This 219 page slides present “Research Infrastructures for Accelerator-Centric Architectures” from Harvard and Univ of Virginia researchers. It applies high level design, simulation, synthesis, and benchmark techniques to accelerator-centric problem or datapath-centric problem. A good reading if you are interested in high level design and synthesis.

It first introduces Aladdin, a power and performance accelerator simulator which enables pre-RTL simulation of accelerators with the rest of the SoC.
It then has a good introduction of Xilinx HLS flow.
And software-hardware co-design.
Finally it introduces LUMOS, a framework with analytical models for heterogeneous architectures.
