Practical Consideration of Adaptive Voltage Scaling (AVS)

There are lots of articles and discussions online about adaptive voltage scaling (AVS). But most of them just focus on the general idea as mentioned in AVS wiki page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adaptive_voltage_scaling. Implement AVS in this way can work on a few parts in lab and give you a false impression AVS is a technique which is easy to adopt to achieve low power. But in reality AVS can be a whole different story if we are talking about production. With millions of chips or even more slated to deliver, how to make sure each of them can properly function with AVS enabled is a daunting task. Having parts malfunction in field and even returned is a big deal in chip business.
